FMLTWIA

Revision is, thankfully, going pretty well. I cannot state whether the hours spent revising and writing notes will actually have sunk in properly into my sponge of a brain, but we can hope. I've been in Bangor Library for a good few hours every day this week, bar yesterday. It is pretty self rewwarding walking out of there with about 12 to 16 pages written out each day. It is like a good, positive cycle: Because I realise I am working hard and producing proper notes and making things worthwhile, I treat myself (often with a 789 sandwich - Bacon, cheese, lettuce, red onions and a lashing of BBQ sauce) then I know I have to work more and more so just keep plugging away. I think it is safe to say this is the first time that I have properly officially revised! GCSEs/AS Levels/A Levels were all a sham. Fair enough I just scraped by to get into Uni to do the course I wanted, but still, actually getting my arse into gear and revising is very rewarding.

I have completed running through all the lectures, bar the last 2 or 3 of GGY1005 (Human Geography module) which I'll work on either tonight or tomorrow's library sesh. I'll chill over the weekend with a spot of revision on Sunday. I'm going to head back up to Belfast on Mondya morning which will mean an awfully early start - I have a Philosophy exam at 9:30 that morning. I genuinely have no clue what to do for this exam and really can see myself walking out early. I'll give it a good go, but I really cannot see myself passing. Strangely enough though, I am not that worried - Which is worrying in itself. Anywho, if I fail, I fail. I'll resubmit essay or something and see what I can do. Cannot wait until next academic year so I can do 3 modules of GEOGRAPHY, not some other random bullshit. I am here to do a Geography degree after all.

In this week that I have been back down in Bangor, I really have not been doing an awful lot apart from revising, eating and watching movies or 24. Man, 24 is awesome. One random night up in Belfast house when Andy was staying over I decided to just download a few episodes, see how it goes - Season 1 this is - and maybe continue watching. It is safe to say, I'm proper hooked. It's quite hilarious watching them use all of the old technology, with big massive mobile phones and shitty looking laptops. Figured it would be best to start from the start and then hopefully work up to the current series...Series 7 I think. That shall occupy a large chunk of my summer!

On the gaming front, I completed Mass Effect about a week and a bit ago, maybe I mentioned that before, can't really remember. But yeah, brilliant, brilliatn game. thoroughly enjoyed the main story line. I think I'll go back and work away at the extra missions for the craic. Cannot wait for ME2. Might try and get a hold of the DLC for ME1, apparently it's rather good. Seeing that I've completed that, I have moved on to Bioshock. Pre-Xbox Profile failure I had about a month ago, I had been doing pretty well with the game. Progressed quite far, but then forgot about it for a while and never looked at it for quite some time. So I figured it would be time to pick it back up and give it a good playing - See it to the end. So far, so fucking awesome.

Oh and I am thinking of starting up WoW again for the summer...

Good idea? Yes or no? Meh. I shan't pay for gaming time, but I think in about a week or so I can get that Scroll of Resurrecion thingy, so might as well use that. Would be good craic to start playing with Foster and Boydo again.

Anywho, dinner is nearly ready and I am fucking starved - That seems to be a problem of mine, not eating enough...Very strange of me.

Anywho, cheers,

Matt.

Theoden

...And so it begins.

That is my first year at Uni over. Teaching done. No more lectures, tutorials, seminars, essays...For another 4 months. Ha. Oh well, 2 weeks until my exams start and end, 25th/27th/30th. ALL of them at 9:30AM which is horrible. AND the last one is on a SATURDAY. I mean, what the fuck. Is that even legal? Any form of academic concept on a Saturday isjust plane insane. Should be banned!

It has been an eventful year. This semester, if not 2009, has been very good to me. The modules I did were pretty damn good. I actually took interest in what I was learning. Last semester seems so SHIT in comparision. I actually wish I was not at Uni and living in Belfast when I think back it was that shite. I think a big factor was the weather y'know. It was always dreadful. Dark, damp, dull...It was quite depressing. Also the fact that the house was always insanely cold and I never had the sense to get a hot water bottle, or extra duvets and stuff. Bah.

Laying in my room with a bit of a hangover. I never had a full blown hangover, but just a little one...And it's lingering. It won't go away. I have brought my sofa right up to my coffee desk, got loads of cushions and blankets and duvets and I am like one big hibernating bear, it's fantastic! I was going to head back to Bangor this evening but could not really be assed with having to get all my shit together and get a train. If JK was driving back I probably would have gone back, but he is not...So...Yeah. Hibernating it is.

Last night was fun, JK, Kris, Andy and I were the only guys out so we all just got drunk and danced like a bunch of dickheads. Got a few photos to upload onto Facebook later...That can be another time consuming task.

Photos, that reminds me. I was meant to upload photos of this really random graffiti that I found while on the way to Uni ages ago...But due to my phone being STOLEN...By some WENCH...Those photos shall not come alive on this page. I shall maybe try get a photo of them again.

Tra la la la la...

Right, I am off.

Matt.

PS: Would really like a cigarette right now, and I do not know why. Also, a nice glass of Lemon Fanta.

Mer Du Japon

At first I wasn't all that angry that my phoned had been stolen...But after today, I really felt the affects without having easy contact with everybody. I couldn't set an alarm to wake up at, couldn't check the time when I wanted, couldn't use it as something to fiddle with...Fucksake. Phones really are a must.

Been on a downloading spree music wise over the past week or few days, mainly been downloading classical music, which I must admit, is actually quite superb. I have great respect for the famous composers that I have been listening to recently, some outstanding music. I think it's great to relax to, or revise, etc.

Anywho, apart from the classical stuff, here is a brilliant song - and video - that I have been listening to A LOT:

The Teenagers are a great band (If you have read earlier posts, I added a song/video by them named "Homecoming"). I love thier stlye and Frenchness.

I think I must write about Thursday night. It actually was a lot of fun. I'm glad a great crowd of people came along with me and made some shapes on the dancefloor. Heaven knows what the videos and photos from Channel 4 shall be like, but hilarious no doubt! Watched a fair bit of Dan Black then went into Limelight for Filthy Dukes. Fuck me. They are awesome. I'm sure I'll embed a song/video by them sometime soon, seriously quality stuff.

Was handy having the guest passes, got free Jack Daniels and it allowed us to blag our way into Limelight for free to see Filthy Dukes. Two Door put on an awesome set, played some new songs and everything was fucking brilliant. Can't wait to see them on telly.

As for now, a bit of music, bacon first, then bed.

Cheers,

Matt.

PS: Many thanks for Kev, Sam and Alex for Thursday night and the fun had.

Where Are My Keys?

...With the Nature essay complete, focus now turns to revision. What a bastard concept. What is it about revision that makes it nearly impossible to do? Ugh.

Actually, you know what is hilarious. I am writing a blog about my hatred for revision and I haven't even begun! Haha. Christ. Well, it does start tomorrow night, or at least Monday.

Thursday night was a great night. Nothing spectacular, yet nothing horrible. A quality night out with some quality people. I'm mainly glad Mark had a fun time as it was his birthday and some of our close friends couldn't be there - Not by choice, but by that big large of chunk of sea in the way. Damn it. Damn it to hell.

I think my night out was made better by the fact that I had completed my essay on time, bar that little extra bit of conclusion. I was proud of my motivation to do the work. I spent a lot of time in the library last week, albeit, not all 100% efficient, but nonetheless worthwhile. I hope my next few weeks I can keep this ethic up. I have 3 papers this semester, 2 of which require hardcore revision.

I plan to just be in the library at lot over the next few weeks, just being there, surrounded by people doing work, motivates me. I'm also going to try listening to some classical music while revising. Normally I listen to some nice, chilled out tunes, such as Boards of Canada, with even some Arcade Fire and Foals - Which was surprisingly not distracting, as normally music with lyrics is quite so.

Hopefully I'll report back to here in a good spirit and NOT while I'm supposedly revising. Haha.

Oh well, ta ta for now.

Matt.
